Hello all, I have a client with a Windows 7 machine running services for other machines in their office. They have told me that when they come back in on Monday, the computer is just off; no lights, no sound, does not just wake up at when you press a key or move the mouse.
I had almost thought that the computer installed updates, but it normally restarts, not shuts down. I checked the options in Power Management, but it was already set to not shutdown after any idle period. I tried configuring it to restart every night at 9PM, to see if that would prevent it from just randomly shutting down, but that didn't work. I'm still trying to find a way to prevent an automatic shutdown. If anyone would have more information, that would be most appreciated. Well can you test logging off the user, pressing down the power button and see if it logs the same?
Looking at the shutdown reason posts seem to point to the power button. So is windows 7 shuts down for no reason free download trying to be helpful trying to either save power or start the machine up ready not realising it is on? Would a do not switch off note covering the power button stop it? This can be beneficial to other community members reading the thread. Potentially could be a hardware issue. Any process or service that's trying to do something? Also, check the Task Schedule and see if something is scheduled to windows 7 shuts down for no reason free download on the weekends.
Lastly, is the shutdown happening at the exact same time each weekend check the Event Viewer? If so, that suggests a scheduled process from the system or a piece of installed software. If it's random, it's more likely a hardware thing.
Sorry this reply is so late, I have a lot of different projects going on. My opportunities to test this are limited, but I'll try to schedule a time to do so. No, they leave the computer up and running all week. Then, when they come in on Monday, expecting it to be on so they can log into it and use their programs, it is off.
Is the computer plugged into a UPS? If so, is there any software installed that "communicates" with the UPS? What entries are just before the "winlogin. Ok, sorry again, but this ticket is just one project out of many, and given a recent cluster of failures in the area due to a power outage, I've been busy. It is plugged into a UPS. It is not a user pushing the power button, because this seems to occur early in the morning before they arrive for work. I have not had a chance to log off the user or shut it down, because I have not been able to get there when they are closing down or otherwise not busy.
When I get the chance, I will do so. I will check to see if it has the latest updates installed, but it most likely does not. I did show them how to update their computer, and avoid the Windows 10 update, but most likely they have not installed any updates. According to your description, I suggest that we could try change a new account to check. Then please refer to the link below. Hope it will be helpful to you.
