Seed Funding Grant Application

We are pleased to be able to offer a $2000 seed funding grant to entrepreneurs enrolled in our program to launch or expand their businesses. This grant has been made possible by the generous donation of a faith-based non-profit organization and major corporations to support early-stage entrepreneurs and existing entrepreneurs who are launching new products or services enrolled in our program.

REQUIREMENTS:
-All applicants must have enrolled in the Minority Small Business Launch Center.
-All applicants must have thoroughly completed the VSU Business Launchpad Certification to be considered.
-Applicants can only apply one time per company over the life of the grant.
-Only approximately 20 grants will be made (16 award slots remain as 4 grants have been awarded).
-Applications will be selected on a rolling basis from March 2023-December 2023 when the grant is intended to end.

Entrepreneur Pitch Competition or Conference Travel Scholarship

We are pleased to be able to offer a  travel scholarship to entrepreneurs enrolled in our program to attend a pitch competition or entrepreneurship conference to which they have been accepted out of the state of Virginia. This grant has been made possible by the generous donation of a faith-based non-profit organization and major corporations to support early-stage entrepreneurs and existing entrepreneurs who want to pursue additional seed funding and training resources. 

REQUIREMENTS:
-All applicants must have enrolled in the Minority Small Business Launch Center.
-All applicants must have thoroughly completed the VSU Business Launchpad Certification to be considered.
-Applicants must have met with Center staff to help prepare for the pitch (if attending a pitch competition.)
-Applicants must provide proof of their acceptance to the conference or pitch competition and registration to attend.
-Applicants can only apply one time per company within a 2-year period of time.
-Scholarship amounts will be determined at the time of application based on available funds.
-Applications will be selected on a rolling basis from March 2023-March 2024 when the grant is intended to end.

Business License Mini-Grant Application

Please complete the application form below in order to apply for a grant for up to $150 to pay for the cost of your initial business license in your respective municipality.

NOTE FOR APPLICANTS - PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU APPLY:

1. This grant will only pay the municipality directly for the cost of the license OR reimburse you for the actual cost for you obtaining the business license proved by receipts submitted. 

2. This grant is only for new firms started between 2021 and 2023 as the direct or indirect result of the training, resources, and/or support provided to you by the Minority Small Business Launch Center.

3. Business owners can only apply once for this funding for each unique business in its lifetime.  

These grants come from generous donors of the VSU Center for Entrepreneurship and/or from VSU Center for Entrepreneurship operating funds. We look forward to serving you!
